Summary:碩士 === 大葉大學 === 休閒事業管理學系碩士班 === 104 === The purposes of this study aim to understand the situations of grand tour participant’s participation motivation, travel experience, and personal self-growth and furthermore to clarify the impacts of grand tour participant’s participation motivation and their travel experience on personal self-growth. Mixed research methods, including quantitative investigation and in-depth interview approaches, were adopted in this research. At quantitative stage, research targets were sampled with grand tour experience less than 10 years. The structured questionnaire including 5 parts was employed to collect data both by internet and in person withdraw valid 250 samples. At qualitative stage, 8 informants including 3 men and 5 ladies were chosen to participate into in-depth interview in order to explore their motivation, experience and self-growth on grand tour. The findings were presented as follows: The most of participant age under 30 years old, with education level of university degree, on job of service. The majority of samples are of 2-3 times experience of grand tour, major companion as friends, the last time to grand tour less than 1 years, most tour aboard, location at Asia and tour at urban areas, tour period of 7 days, average cost of 5,001-10,000 NT dollars, tour theme as cultural travel, transportation by subway, living in B&B, diet with general restaurant. There are significant statistically differences of participation motivation, travel experience and self-growth against personal background. There are significant statistically differences of participation motivation because of different types of past tour experience, and participation motivation can effectively predict tour experiences. In addition, there are significant statistically differences of personal self-growth because of different types of past tour experience, and tour experiences can effectively predict personal self-growth. The respondents who possess limited travel budgets perceive rather deeper self-growth. Finally contract to quantitative results qualitative findings reveal the existence of negative impact while pursuing personal self-growth. According to the results of study some suggestions for grand tour participants, tour organizations and further studies were proposed. The study enables to encourage people to understand grand tour comprehensively and can change themselves as well as let their life more excellent. Meanwhile, tour organizations can invite participants involved in planning and process in order to meet the demands of grand tour participants with positive feedbacks. It is recommended to future researches that psychological variables such as personality straits, benefit should be clarified their role during grand tour. Besides, questionnaire issued must consider contemporary situations of interview and focus on specific grand tour to avoid participants’ ambiguous memory which can make sure the trustworthiness. Multiple choices of selection for certain items and expansion of research sites can be conducted to ensure better understanding of generalization of grand tour.
