The research objects are the Karate participants in Taoyuan. The purposes of the research are: (1) To take survey of the participation behavior and background of the Karate participants. (2) To understand the objects’ sports cognition and pressure adjustment. (3) Analyze the objects’ leisure constraint. (4) Discuss the different demographic variables have differences in participation behavior, sports cognition and leisure constraint or not. (5) Understand the relationships between the pressure adjustment and leisure constraint. The study used questionnaire as a tool. The design of the questionnaire applied Likert scale for measurement. Using purposive sampling, total 138 questionnaires were issued in this study. The statistic software SPSS 12.0 was applied for data analysis. The statistical methods included descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows. Most of the Karate participants are males between 10 and 20 years old. They play this activity not only on weekdays but also on weekends. The subjects with high school degree or above have more participation attitude. The people who play Karate 3 to 5 years can get better sports cognition and as well as pressure adjustment. Besides, the participants who have lower “affection” and “attitude” in sports cognition dimension get leisure constraint more easily. Sports cognition and leisure constraint can effectively predict pressure adjustment. Meanwhile, the “attitude” in sports cognition dimension has the best prediction. According to the research, Karate is useful in pressure adjustment. Finally, hoping the results of this study can provide as references of the relevant government departments in promotion of Karate.
