碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築學系 === 103 === Abstract Several famous historical-districts in Taiwan were also important locations for the development of nearby areas in the past but had declined now. However, there are still many historical-district preservations become the successful examples of recent historical preservation movement which vigorously expanded in various places of Taiwan. Many historical-districts in Taiwan had been reserved and revitalized through various kinds of schemes, which were almost performed gradually as “historical preservation” containing the daily life of inhabitants by means of measuring timetable with generations. The “preservation” was distributed by the policy guidance of the government, the passionate local dwellers of old town districts, and hearted scholars and professionals, with their perseverance to the confirmation for the decision-making of the purposes and actions for the conservation program of historical-district during the long-lasting historical preservation. Nevertheless, the slow accumulation of their efforts will definitely lead to the realization of actual construction for future conservation and revitalization, and sustainable development of cultural history and economy entailed by historical-districts. This study takes Beidou historical-district, a very classical model that witnessed the shift changes of the world, as example, its district conservation principle as research subject, and district nearby Douyuan Road, Yuanshi Street and Gongqian Street, where most old street houses of Beidou historical-district located, as field of research. The main content of this study includes the investigation of the historical development of Beidou historical-district and the analysis of the shape grammar of old streets, reference to other cases of reservation and revitalization in and outside Taiwan, and performing an operational analysis for shape grammar in accordance with plan and archway facades of business street houses in historical-district, in order to understand its composition characteristics and rules, aiming to establish a referential database which could be able to provide designing and reconstructing principles for the scenes and buildings of historical streets when the historical preservation of Beidou historical streets is taken place in the future.
