Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 化學系 === 103 === An evanescent waveguide fiber-capillary gas chromatographic detector is employ to measure eluting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) utilizing the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of thiolate monolayer protected nanoparticle. The 1-octanethiol silver nanoparticles (C8-AgNPs) are synthesized by reduction with sodium borohydride. The inner-wall surface of evanescent waveguide fiber-capillary detector is modified with (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) for chemical immobilization of C8-AgNPs. The eluting VOCs samples were sorbed by the C8-AgNPs that cause slight change in LSPR band of C8-AgNPs film. This C8-AgNPs coated evanescent waveguide fiber-capillary detector represents 1.2% relative standard deviation (RSD) by 10 times sequence injections of toluene vapor. The sensitivity enlarges by the increase length of the fiber-capillary detector. The optimum flow rate is determined by Golay plot and is at 2 mL/min. The sorption appearance between eluting VOCs and C8-AgNPs is discussed from 30 to 60 oC. The calibration curves of preliminary VOCs illustrate good linearity (R2>0.99) and detection limits vary from 2.31-ng (2-heptanone) to 113.70-ng (1,4-dioxine) because of VOCs volatility and affinity to the octanethiol ligand covering on the silver nanoparticle surface. This C8-AgNPs coated evanescent waveguide fiber-capillary detector has been displayed good potential in portable GC system.
