Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 日本語文學系碩士班 === 97 === This thesis discussed the main character, Taira no Masakado's image in the war tales of '' The Masakado Chronicle " in Japan. Six chapters are written in this article. In the prologue I would introduce the content of "The Masakado Chronicle", briefly introduce the general research progress in three periods like, Meiji period, Taisho period, and Shōwa period to modern times focusing on "The Masakado Chronicle." In the first chapter to introduce the two main versions of '' The Masakado Chronicle ", also the main statements of how the title came from, the era of its completion and the identity status of the writer over the years. And to simply discourse the impacts for the time of its completion and the identity status of the writer to the writing style of The Masakado Chronicle and the image of Masakado. In the second chapter, through discussion of the fourteen wars in the text to demonstrate the fierce man image that Masakado presented in the battles. Discoursing the descriptions of Masakado's words and behaviors in the fourteen battles to show the brave image of Masakado. In the second section to describe after been through many battles, the image changing process of Masakado from a fierce gentleman into a proud New Emperor. In chapter three through some events inside "The Masakado Chronicle", besides the fierce image, also discuss the other character images that the writer given to Masakado. First to discuss the positive images like caring for others that Masakado presented in the event of separation from his wife, the release of his uncle and the incident of wife of Taira no Sadomori. Then to discuss the image Masakado had when interacting with his people and his underlings. And discoursing the images of Masakado that the writer wanted to magnify through other images of different characters. In chapter four through Masakado's self-defense letters, the Hitachi Maru Incident, the declaration of Tohoku dominated and the sigh of the writer inside "The Masakado Chronicle" to discuss the conspirator image that "The Masakado Chronicle" presented.Final is to conclude the Masakado images in The Masakado Chronicle differing from multiple images of other related works, and the direction of future research.
