Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 宗教學系碩士在職專班 === 103 === Abstract This study investigates the belief of Mother Earth and the idea of compassion in Sui-yuan Tang, a Taiwan-based religious association. The approaches used in the present study are mainly literature review and field research. This study discusses various subtopics in detail, including the formation of spiritual mediums, the major and minor gods worshiped in Sui-yuan Tang, teaching of spiritual formation, religious medical treatment, and religious compassion ceremonies. With focus on spiritual formation, the study aims to answer the following questions: What is spiritual formation? Why do we do spiritual formation? What is the purpose of spiritual formation? What makes one achieve spiritual formation? What is the difference between the traditional spiritual formation and the adapted one in the new folk religions. It is hoped that the study would help clear some misunderstandings and negative comments on spiritual formation.
