Movies such as Bangkah, ZONEPROSITE, Twa-Tiu-Tiann, KANO, and etc, are always occasions for nostalgia and reminiscing for Taiwanese. Those movie present the beauty of Taiwan's local culture, custom and tradition. They also arouse people’s impressions and nostalgia of Taiwan’s culture. French sociologist Maurice Halbwachs thinks that memory is a collective community of social behavior. Movie combined nostalgia and local culture awaken the collective memory. It serves a purpose of comforting, entertainment, and collecting the memory. People can get into the movie scene by the familiar conversant situation. In this research, we perform the in-depth interviews to dig out more constructional levels of nostalgic element in the movie industry. We study how to use semiotic to re-present the local culture, historical contexts, and settings with modern photography, lighting and soundtracks. This way we can categorize and organize the elements of nostalgia. Keyword: Taiwanese movie, nostalgic, collective memory
