For instance, a lot of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) be used in the copper electroplate process of printed circuit board industry bring about the Cu-EDTA existed in wastewater. As adsorbent, the nano-ferrite can provide large surface area and can increase the amount of adsorption for some specific substances through doped with other metal ions. Several ferrites containing different metal ions were synthesized then identify the most potential adsorbent by measuring equilibrium adsorption capacity with batch experiments. In addition, the column experiments were conducted to find adsorption and desorption effectiveness of ferrites. Batch experiment results indicate that the best adsorbent is nickel ferrite (Ni/Fe=1/2) because it has the maximum adsorption capacity in wide pH range for Cu-EDTA. The Cu-EDTA adsorption behavior onto ferrite could be fitted to the Freundlich isotherm. Column experiments show that the operation capacity has a positive correlation with Cu-EDTA concentration, but independent of flow rate. Copper will be desorbed into solution in the form of Cu2+ when the pH is low enough. Increasing the concentration of acid desorbent can increase significantly the regeneration rate of column and the Cu2+concentration of desorption solution.
