The functions of smart meter include display and storage of user's power consumption, electric energy parameters and abnormality, etc. Moreover, user can check power consumption remotely, and the electric energy saving of smart home electric appliance is implemented by smart plug and smart mobile devices. In addition, smart plug consists of ZigBee module, Wi-Fi module, load control unit, and LCD display. People can use smart phone to check and control the operation state of electric appliance and power usage information via Wi-Fi. Smart meter can use ZigBee to connect smart plug. Finally, to confirm the practicability of smart home electric energy saving system, the prototype was built to control home appliance, the test results validate the feasibility of the proposed smart home electric energy saving system.
