碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 企業管理系碩士在職專班 === 103 === The objective of this study is to seek the determinants of high-growth expectations of early-stage Hotels and Restaurants (H&R) entrepreneurs by using Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) data. Evaluated factors are demographic, cognitive, motivation, and aspiration variables where 2,899 samples in 70 countries from GEM 2005 to 2009 database are analyzed using logistic regression techniques. Findings show that gender, educational level, household income, perception of new business opportunities, opportunity-motivated, innovativeness, and internationalization are factors which link to high-growth expectations. In other words, early-stage H&R entrepreneurs who possess high-growth expectations, where newly formed businesses that expect to employ at least 20 employees within five years’ time, are most likely opportunity-motivated, highly educated male individuals with higher household income who perceive new business opportunities, pursue innovativeness, and emphasize on international customers.
