He was committing to the dissemination of Chinese culture to foreigners, and also played the role of a bridge trying his best to introduce foreign cultures to Chinese people reversely. Lin''s work has a special perspective that must take into account the audience to accept the extent of their cultural and social forms. The purpose of this paper is to uncover the value and ideological significance for women in Lin’s "The Red Peony." The first chapter is an introduction, description of research motive and purpose, literature review and research scope and method. The second chapter is Lin''s life history and literature, his background of education, scholarship, and relevant experience and so on. The third chapter is to discuss the writing and translation reason of that book. The fourth chapter is about the static description and dynamic character description studies. The fifth chapter examines the female conscious and sexual liberation under the framework of Chinese traditional family. The sixth chapter is conclusion and findings that is trying to re-examine and analyze the deep implication of the book, and also argue against negative criticism and controversial points. Finally, try to explore for literary value and impact "Red Peony."
