The leisure farms development rapidly which result in competition. Therefore, the quality of recreational activities become a vital issue. During the process of recreational activities, the inappropriate recreational behavior of tourists damage the quality of recreational and environment which influence tourists and managers. Hence, it is important to understand the reasons and managerial strategy of the inappropriate recreation behavior for tourists and managers (Hou & Kuo, 1999). Westover (1989) indicated that we can understand more deeply at recreation area when tourists decide to face the reality of inappropriate recreational behavior. Although managers dedicate to improving their facilities, service and strategy to increase the performance. “Tourist” is the vital role which affect recreational quality and Sustainable Development of environment. Therefore, this study use perspectives of broken windows theory and servicescape to explore the relations among inappropriate recreational behavior motives, inappropriate recreational behavior and recreation satisfaction in the leisure farm.
This study surveyed 600 tourists from 20 leisure farms. The empirical evidence reveal that inappropriate recreational behavior motives can divide into four dimensions: “the clearness of the law”, “the affection by others”, “on purpose” and “attracted objects”. The results indicated that inappropriate recreational behavior motives was positive related with inappropriate recreational behavior. There is partially negative correlation between inappropriate recreational behavior and recreation satisfaction. Inappropriate recreational behavior motives was partially negative related with recreation satisfaction. The relationship between inappropriate recreational behavior motives and recreation satisfaction is mediated by inappropriate recreational behavior. Perceived inappropriate recreational behavior was positive related with inappropriate recreational behavior. However, perceived inappropriate recreational behavior is not significantly related to recreation satisfaction.
This study develop various dimensions of inappropriate recreational behavior and clarify the relations among inappropriate recreational behavior motives, inappropriate recreational behavior and recreation satisfaction. The results could be reference for planning and management of Leisure Farm.
