The reaction was carried out in a microwave reactor under normal pressure and screened the most active one form those of acidic, neutral, alkaline ionic liquids. The extent of degradation depends on the reaction temperature, reaction time, and the weight ratio of methanol, ionic liquids and PC. The optimal methanolysis conditions was also investigated,as well as the reusability of ionic liquid in PC methanolysis. If there is the solid residue remaining inside the reactor when the degradation was terminated the solid was characterized with FTIR, SEM to carry out properties analysis, results showed that the solid was unreacted PC. The liquid product composition was analyzed by GC.
