碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 103 === Since the outbreak of the global financial crisis in 2008, the economic center of the world began shifting to East Asia while China emerged as a market that bustled with global competition. With their special status in China and the great benefit of the Economic Comprehensive Framework Agreement (ECFA), Taiwanese companies are attractive to Japanese companies. The special position of Taiwanese businessmen in China has strongly encouraged Japanese businesses to cooperate and increase interactions with the former. This thesis is a study on the cooperation model between Taiwan and Japan in industries in China. In view of the success of Taiwan-Japan cooperation in China, this study draws the following conclusions. First, the special status of Taiwanese business in China and the signing of ECFA give Taiwanese companies extra advantages among other foreign companies in China. Second, the foreign investment obstacles that Japanese businesses face abroad serve to accelerate cooperation between Taiwanese and Japanese industries. Third, Taiwan-Japan economic and trade cooperation can be divided into the four categories of business management, research and design, marketing, and manufacturing. The complementary characters between Taiwanese and Japanese business draw the two groups together for cooperation. Finally, the signing of the China-Korea free trade agreement undermines Taiwan’s predominant status in China and implies challenges for Taiwan-Japan cooperation in the long run.
