Due to the effect of tour policy, residents who live in the vicinity of the historical preservation area are frequently affected by foreign tourists. (2)Instructions The study aims to explore the coherence of living culture within ancient community surrounding preservation area through the activities hold by community organizations. Additionally, by the way of sustained activities, diverse activities, funding, assistance, and space which external organizations provide for, it could be expected to be observed the relationship between the community and cultural heritage , the continuation of living culture and the promotion which meets the need of district generally. (3)Effect i. Based on the living fields with the local consciousness of land owners, explore the relationship between historical preservation area and community. ii. Based on the participation of planned activities in community, explore the sustainability and renewal in living culture. iii. Based on the management of community activities, empower the community and its development. (4)Conclusions In terms of the development of locally living culture in ancient community, it seems that the opportunity of conversing community activities into living culture would be contrived by the funding stemming from authority concerned and assistance form external organizations with the successive activities and space which are offered by community organizations. [INTRODUCTION] The research explores the possibility of the continuation of living culture in the ancient community near the historical preservation district through the analyzation of sustainable activities in the community. Furthermore, it aims to contrive the procedure of developing sustainability and renewal of local culture as well as regeneration of contemporary living culture. Additionally, it would explore the regional development through the analyzation of the coherence between the usage of community space and cultural heritages in the historical preservation area. (1)Problem consciousness Tainan city is an urban region with abundantly cultural heritages. Therefore, “the development of cultural Capital” is the core of urban development after the merge of Tainan city and county in 2010. It includes the activation of cultural heritage, the constructions of facilities, and organized activities. However, the life of residents are influenced by tourist activities. (2)Related literature In the view of Maintenance and Recycling of Historical Preservation Area in UNESCO, this study explores the five issues and types of community activities: i. The involvement of multi-level groups. ii. The diversity regeneration derive from new functions and the intervention of new functions and activities. iii. The preservation of population and the field of cultural heritage. iv. The relationship between living culture and community development. v. The different characteristics in different community organizations in region, government subsidy (public grants program), and the assistance from external organizations. (3)Materials used and method The study includes the proposals of public grants programs as well as the involvement and interview of community activities in order to analyze the continuation of activities and those spatial context in communities. Therefore, it might reason whether or not the activities held by community organizations may impact the continuation of life culture. (4)Main results of the research Exploring the development of living culture in ancient community need subsidy from government, and assistance from external organizations. With long- term activities and space support, it might convert community activities into living culture. On the other hand, the relationship of historical preservation area and community may anchor with the strong consciousness of living environment and reuse of cultural heritage. In short, the management of community activities would enhance the vitality of the community and regional development and development life of activity, chance regional development the way. [MATERIALS AND METHODS] The materials of this study include the proposals of public grants programs as well as the involvement and interview of community activities in order to analyze the continuation of activities and those spatial context in communities. Therefore, it might reason whether or not the activities held by community organizations may impact the continuation of life culture. [RESULTS AND DISCUSSION] i. The development of living culture in ancient community is benefited by sustained activities, government subsidy and assistance from external organizations. It may convert the activities into living culture in community. ii. The relationship between the ancient communities and cultural heritages, in addition to re-use of cultural heritage space, the education oriented tour as well as the care and assistance for original residents are important as well. iii. Community vitality and regional development ought to be promoted by community organizations which assist the residences to meet the consensus and then propose an improvement based on the viewpoint of living and regional circumstance. [CONCLUSION] In general, the conversion from community activities into public life then living culture was sustained by successive activities conducted by community organization and the necessity of space. Therefore, it may contrive an opportunity to explore the continuation and regeneration of traditional culture or the formation of contemporary living culture. As for the precondition of conducting activities by community organizations, it would consist of the following issues: (i) the stability and sustainability of main activities, (ii) government grants program, (iii) assistance from external organizations. Additionally, the necessity of space plays the main role to support activities. The space could be formed by (a) Community Center which organizations could utilize directly, (ii) the specific space furnished by organizations, (iii) the activation of cultural heritages reused for activities.
