Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 經濟學系 === 103 === Marriage premium investigates whether a person’s marital status has an influence on his/her labor earnings. This study focuses on male marriage premium and uses data from different cohorts to examine if the male marriage premium vanishes or amplifies over time. We apply data from the Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD) to conduct empirical analysis. We began with a cross-sectional analysis using data from 2010.Then, to accurately account for the cohort effect on male marriage premium, we fix the age range for different cohorts. The results show that the older cohort exhibits a positive marriage premium. However, the marriage premium is insignificant for the younger cohort. A possible explanation is that female labor participation raises along with female educational attainments. As a result, husbands are forced to share housework and their input towards the labor market as well as their labor earnings are affected.
