These peptides were synthesized by many chemists, moreover these peptide drugs could be used to treat a wide range of diseases. JBP485 and JBP923 are our main researched peptides which were isolated from human placenta, became they have good biological activity so that they have considerable potential in drug development. Our synthetic strategy is that using commercially available L-Serine and trans-4-hydroxy-L-Proline as the starting material for preparing the desired monomer, then, peptide bond synthesized to get the dipeptide skeleton, subsequently functional groups modified and condensation to complete synthesis of the natural product JBP485 and JBP923. These structures was confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The natural product JBP485 used N-Hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) and N,N'-Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) to cyclization process. It may generate an activated ester (intermediate) during the cyclization. We hope to be able to find evidence of its existence Another project we thought about using JBP485 and JBP923 to synthesize Pt (II)-peptide complex which may have anti-cancer activity, but we are still preparing the precursor and the needs to be further identified for subsequent reactions.
