Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 機電工程學系所 === 103 === This study analyzes the causes of domestic large vehicular tire blowouts and the necessity of implementing a tire pressure monitoring system. Through tracking traffic incidents involving large vehicles as well as analyzing technical and management data obtained from domestic bus carriers, we found that tires with tread depth of less than 1.6 mm will significantly increase the chance of tire blowouts. The risk of a blowout is also substantial if the tire pressure is too high or too low. To ensure the safety of all drivers and passengers on the road, we propose the installment of tire pressure monitoring systems to highway checkpoints in addition to the enforcement of more effective vehicle safety inspections. By transmitting data via a fleet management system or a smart fleet management platform, a central management control center can collect and monitor the drivers’ conditions, tire pressures, tire temperatures, vehicle speeds, fuel consumption, elapsed time, and travel paths of large vehicles combine with GPS. The implementation of such a system can significantly reduce the risk of tire blowouts and increase overall road safety.
