This research is based on a series of questionnaires specifically designed for public junior high school students in Chaiyi County with a total of 533 successful samples collected from a group of 582 randomly selected participants. The instruments used for this research were the “Scale of the parenting styles’’, the “Scale of the personality traits’’, and the “Scale of the social skills’’. The data collected from the survey is analyzed by descriptive statistics such as Pearson product-moment correlation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and posteriori comparison. By using the information from the scale of parenting styles and the scale of personality traits, it is possible to further predict the effect that will be placed on the scale of social skills in multiple regression; as a result, the research has derived to the following conclusions: 1. In parenting style, the mother scores higher than the father in all categories, and the score of “demand” is higher than “response” in students’ feelings. 2. Personality traits and social skills of public junior high school students show positive developments. 3. Parenting styles are directly correlated with students’ development of personality traits. 4. Parenting styles are directly correlated with students’ development of social skills. 5. Personality traits s are directly correlated with students’ social skills. 6. Social skills of students have 68% predictable based on the parents’ parenting methods and personalities. “Father’s demand” Chang, K. P. 張高賓 學位論文 ; thesis 118 zh-TW
