On Luo Hongkai's Wen Xuan Xue: with the focus on the Chapter of Du Xuan Dao Yan

碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 中國語文學系 === 103 === Luo Hong-Kai was a well-known scholar of Wen Xuan studies in the 20th century. Not only did he attach importance to classical works, Luo also adopted the literary approach to the writers and pieces in Wen Xuan. He carefully pointed out the pole and omission in the anthology and concluded the methods of studying this book, which marks the start of the modern era of Wen Xuan studies. On the basis of the life and scholarship of Luo and with the focus on the Du Xuan Dao Yan chapter in Luo’s Wen Xuan Xue, this dissertation is divided into two main directions: the studies of genre and writers in this book, since both genre and writers of the pieces constitute the main body of Wen Xuan. On the one hand, we emphasize on Luo’s five doctrines of literary forms and the composition principles of these forms, so as to clarify his understanding of Xiao Tong’s Wen Xuan Xu (Preface of Wen Xuan), ideology of literary forms and compilation of this anthology. On the other hand, we make use of Luo’s five doctrines of the studies of writers to examine how the social and political circumstances influenced the writers’ literary creation and hence help them develop their own styles. In addition, the characters and knowledge of the writers are the pivotal elements of their literary styles. Luo Hongkai laid stress on the history of Wen Xuan studies, and his related study is still exemplary nowadays. He presented his own opinions concerning the order, pieces and forms of compilation. Being the first scholar who systematically concluded the content of Wen Xuan study, Luo is undoubtedly a successor of the classical study and a forerunner of the modern in the field of Wen Xuan.
