This study presents the self-actualization of a female artist, Through the Liu I-Lan's paintings and narratives, this study, including the transformation of the meaning of self-exploration and painting before and after transformation. In other words, when exploring self-value, I-Lan attempts to find the possibility of obstacles of daily lives. She integrates her life experience in artistic creation and includes life experience in universal physical experience to pay attention to life, social and cultural issues. From a perspective of art, she depicts human existence in the time and the world, particularly females’ general life experience. I-Lan passion in art significantly changes herself. When she seeks for the identification, she relies on art to construct new ego and transform life environment. Self-creation triggers the development of her thinking value. It demonstrates her desire for the new meaning system because of personal life experience. For her, the value of artistic practice can inspire inner self and influence self-identification. The artistic force allows I-Lan to return to self. By reflection on life pattern, she realizes the insufficiency and decides to improve herself. She treats art as a religion and base of self- actualization. I-Lan transformed into her mission from her own growth, but also because she has the courage to challenge the strong personality. She has innate creativity, she loved art, but also through the artistic challenge herself and, therefore, achieve success. Finally, she reached self- actualization and self-identity.
