Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 營建工程研究所 === 103 === In recent years, many fresh entrants to the construction industry have perceived that because civil engineering education lacks experience of engineering practice, there exist gaps between professional knowledge learned at school and engineering matters faced at work, which further gives an impression of a lower connection between vocational courses and job demands while requiring more time for getting familiar with work. However, presently many employers’ assessment of a fresh entrant’s ability to meet job requirements is based not only on vocational proficiency but also on attitude to duty. Therefore, this study investigated the three aspects of present overall curriculum, connection between vocational courses and job demands, and competency requirements for construction professionals. First, via a literature review, factors in each aspect were determined for designing a questionnaire, which was then filled by construction professionals invited. The data collected from the survey was processed using reliability tests, descriptive statistical analyses, and tests of difference in means between groups. The results show the respondents opine that “more content in engineering practice”, “construction laws”, and “communication skills” are most important in the above three aspects respectively.
