According to Fire Services Act and Residential Fire Alarm Installation Approach announced by Ministry of the Interior, the dwelling houses without automatic fire alarm installed will be asked to set up residential fire alarms by December 31, 2017. However, the research results in National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) report in 2011 showed that residencial fires were still occurred even fire detectors installed in dwelling houses. The statistics also showed that two-thirds of residential fire deaths found fire detectors has been installed. One reason is supposed that residential fire alarm is failed and is accounting for 24 percent. Currently, official fire departments are actively encouraging people to install residential fire alarms in Taiwan. The purpose in this study is to investigate the failure causes of the fire detectors from the NFPA report. As the required in NFPA 72, automatic fire alarm systems will be installed outside of bedrooms and in series each other. Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) were used to simulate the fire scenario in a general dwelling house whether residential fire alarms are set up in series or not. From research results, fire alarms in series connection are early warning and increased more evaluation time for people when a fire occurred. Some research results could be provided to people and the government authorities concerning the installation of residential fire alarms. Chung-Hwei Su 蘇崇輝 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 84 zh-TW
