However, the risks of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) in workers are increased under these conditions. The study purpose was to investigate current conditions of work-related MSD, potential hazards and promising improvements to factory workers. In order to improve working environments by using Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics, Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) were employed to examine and reveal the prevalence and potential hazards of systemic musculoskeletal disorders in factory workers, respectively. The results of NMQ indicated that lower back and lumbar pain (n=58, 63.0%) was the most common discomfort in perceived musculoskeletal symptoms among subjects worked in polishing disk and solution fabrication. Neck (n=55, 59.8%), right shoulder (n=53, 57.6%) and upper back (n=47, 40.2%) pains were also common and critical symptoms in fabrication workers. Work-exclusive musculoskeletal soreness and pain were the major symptoms and had the highest incidence than other disorders. REBA was also used to evaluate working positions in 10 fabrication stations. The results showed that cutting, end-product transportation, in-coming quality control, material dispatch and raw material inspection were the five highest risks operations, and thus implement changes were required. According to the research results, the facilities and tools in work environment after correction could reduce the risk of REBA. The risk index of REBA for the five works was reduced to low risk after review. This research has found that it is not necessary to spend a lot of money to improve human related management in some working conditions. Using low-cost or simple ways. For example, adjusting the height of working surfaces could also reduce human related hazards. If labor safety managers could utilize human related assessment tool and use index table to implement risk assessment prior to production, they could first understand the human related risks in each work station and be able to implement suitable prevention while also reduce hazards to laborer’s muscles and bones.
