However, students’ knowledge of the world may be limited due to the limited number of teaching hours and teaching materials in the classroom. This study aims to develop a new teaching method. Through this teaching method, students can learn the dynamic process that begins with gathering information, organizing data and analyzing. It is expected that even leaving the classroom, students are still able to explore the wide world through their own learning strategies. In addition, the data collected from observations, interviews, questionnaires, document analysis and other methods during this research process would be valid evidence in the future to review and revise the Action Research Project. Accordingly, the purposes of this paper are as follows: 1. To develop and utillize student self-learning strategies in world geography course with action research methods. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of the various stages of student self-learning strategies. 3. To developed the world geography teaching approaches that are suitable for ninth graders. In the three stages of Self-learning strategies teaching activities, it is found that students lack of judgment and filtering capabilities on the data processing. Teacher should design activities sheets according to different levels. Through giving specific instructions and clear objectives, students can work independently after school.
