Statistically, the software LINE is the most popular app in Taiwan and around the world. Good interaction between the elderly and their kith and kin has been brought about thanks to the use of the messaging software. Related research has pointed out that the more social support the senior get, the better physical and mental health they have. To understand the behavioral intention of people aged 45 and over, the research framework was established based on the theory of planned behavior plus perceived enjoyment construct of flow theory. Questionnaire was adopted and factors affecting behavioral intention of using messaging software Line for people aged 45 and over living in Nantou County were explored. The results showed that, on the whole, the average score of each construct was higher than 4, meaning the elderly strongly agreed on utilizing the messaging software LINE. And, those in a better-off economic status scored highest in the construct of behavioral intention. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that the attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control and perceived enjoyment positively swayed the subjects’ behavioral intention while the latter two had the greatest impact. What’s more, via the mediating effect of attitude, behavioral intention fell under the positive influence of subjective norm and perceived enjoyment.
