Because of without the use of clutch in the AMT, mechanism synchronizers are required of gear shifting process. The works are proceeded firstly by developing a program to simulate every step of synchronization process during gear shift. Then a set of modified parameters of the synchronizer are proposed for smoothing gear shift operations. Furthermore, a brand new shifting mechanism was designed for more smooth and responsive shift control. Finally, a test rig was established to verify the performance of the proposed shifting mechanism. Throughout all the feasibility studies, numerical simulation, and experimental tests, it was proved that the new designed shifting mechanism could achieve smooth shift and simplify the control logic successfully.
