It adopted questionnaire survey, and a self-compiled “questionnaire of cognition, attitudes and behavior toward natural ecology and environmental protection” was used as a research tool. The method of stratified random sampling was employed to sample 1,000 parents of preschool in Taiwan, among which, 878 questionnaires were retrieved, and 859 of them were considered valid samples. The study analyzed data with descriptive statistics, independent t test, one-way ANOVA (analysis of variance) and Pearson product-moment correlation. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The “cognitive concept” of the parents of preschool in Taiwan on natural ecology and environmental protection scored the highest, being followed by their “awareness attitudes” and “parental behavior,” while their “action experience” scored the lowest. 2. There were significant differences regarding seven background variables including parents' status, age, educational backgrounds, occupations, religion, family monthly income and the frequency of outdoor activities upon their cognitive attitudes and behavioral performance toward natural ecology and environmental protection 3. The study found that the parents' cognitive attitudes, awareness attitudes, parental behavior and action experience toward natural ecology and environmental protection had intermediate-high positive correlation. According to the findings of the study, the researcher suggests parents of preschool in Taiwan arrange more outdoor activities and discuss how to improve natural ecology and environmental protection with their families. Furthermore, Taiwan's government should establish various channels for exchanging environmental information and propagandize the issue in preschools to enhance these parents' willingness to pay attention to natural ecology and environmental protection.
