Participants consisted of 220 junior high school counselors from each area of Taiwan. The instruments applied in this study included the role stress scale, the job satisfaction scale, and the professional commitment scale. The research data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, two-ways MANOVA, product-moment correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM). The main results revealed that : 1.Role stress of junior high school counselors is moderstely low. And counselors’ work years differences are significant on role conflict, but there are no counselors’ training backgrounds differences emerged. 2.Job satisfaction of junior high school counselors is moderstely high. The counselors’ work years difference are not significant on job satisfaction, and training backgrounds are also not significant . 3.There are no difference between the work years and training backgrounds of counselors’ job satisfaction. 4.Professional commitment of junior high school counselors is moderstely high. And counselors’ work years differences are significant on professional commitment, but there are no counselors’ training backgrounds differences emerged. 5.There are significant correlations among role stress, job satisfaction, and professional commitment. (1)There are significant correlations among role stress and job satisfaction(r = -.56, p < .01). (2)There are significant correlations among role stress and professional commitment(r = -.36, p < .01). (3)There are significant correlations among job satisfaction and professional commitment(r = .52, p < .01). 6.The analy results of structural equation models were as follows: (1)The negative influence of role stress disposition on job satisfaction is significant(β = -.74, p < .001). (2)The positive influence of job satisfaction disposition on professional commitment is significant(β = .74, p < .001). (3)The job satisfaction mediated the relationship between role stress and professional commitment(β = -.55, p < .001).
