This thesis uses qualitative research method to visit and discuss with ten people, who are the readers and volunteers at independent bookstore. The research results are listed as follow: 1.An independent bookstore with comfortable reading space and special attracting characteristics can increase the number of readers. 2.To share information with each participant, an independent bookstore must have widely and unique subjects on book selection. 3.The manager of independent bookstore usually invites some volunteers to attend his activities. During the period, because volunteers can get their sense of belonging and enlarge their circle of friends, they usually continue to attend these activities. 4.There are many problems happened within participants when they are busy with work, or they can’t handle their work, or they can’t identify themselves with manager of independent bookstore. To overcome the problems, some participants try to adjust their time or state, the other participants actively understand and communicate with manager. 5.The participants have multi-path interactions at independent bookstore. The manager can lead them to discuss a specific subject. Besides, they also take care and support each other on whether psychological or physiological. 6.The participants not only support independent bookstore, but also try to focus on the value of book. Besides, the high turnover rate on volunteers and cultivating talents are also the urgent problems. 7.By attending these activities with other participants at the independent bookstore, each participant can promote his/her value and interpersonal relationships. Besides, they also draw inspiration on their lives from the experience. Finally, according to these research results, this thesis proposes several suggestions for government, manager, participants, and readers.
