Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 應用數學系碩士班 === 103 === This research mainly aimed to explore senior high students’ basic understanding of Plane Vector and how they solved the Plane Vector questions, analyzed the error patterns in their performance of Plane Vector, found the possible reasons of the errors, and provide resources for support classes and improvement of teaching strategy in the future. The research method combined surveys and interviews. Using “Test for the Plane Vector sessions," a paper-based test developed by the researcher, this research investigated students’ performance in Plane Vector and the errors in their performance. The error patterns were generalized from the result of the test. The author finally conducted interviews with students to further understand their reasoning during the test and the reasons behind their errors. The sample included thirty senior high school students from one class in a senior high school in East District, Tainan City. The main results were: 1.Students’ errors in performance Plane Vector: (1)The basic operations of Plane Vector was not the most important problem of students. The mainly problems were the concept of the term could not link with the concept, and students did not understand the formula produce. It resulted in they could not answer the question if they forgot the formula. Even if the subject had no formula can be used, students also think there should have the formula. It was stated that the students’ dependence on formula. (2)Some students did not have stable performance, providing both correct and incorrect answer to questions of similar structure. Others integrated several incorrect problem-solving strategies to answer a single question. 2.The error patterns in students’ performance of Plane Vector: (1)Computation errors. (2)Misdirection of vector operations. (3)Could not solving the problem without given vector. (4)Wrong memory of algebraic formula. (5)Wrong decomposition of vector. (6)Not using the prescribed method to answer the question. (7)Vector angle is not right to judge. (8)Perpendicular and parallel vector misjudgment. 3.Reasons for students’ errors: (1)The misunderstanding of terminology. (2)The misunderstanding of formula. (3)Misunderstanding the concept of vector basis operations. (4)Misunderstanding the angle of vector. (5)The ability of vector algebraic computation is not good enough. (6)Lack of prior knowledge. (7)Basis counting operation errors.
