Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 國語文學系國語文教學碩士班 === 103 === “Moon over Manifest” follows a single-parent orphan girl going to a town called Manifest to look for her father. She saw people from other countries coming to Manifest for immigration during World War I. Accordingly, some broken families resulted in orphans; immigrants suffered from being bullied and humiliated by the Americans. In the end, those people struggled to heal the wounds and find the home for their hearts. The study is based on this novel. It researches into the text through text analysis, document analysis and historical and cultural method in order to understand the writing skill of staggers of fantasy and reality, the depiction of the characters’ mental experience, the theme meaning of the author and the research objectives of related issues. As readers reading “Moon over Manifest”, it is hoped to set a positive paragon of values and learning while facing the issues of social reality.
