Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 應用地球科學研究所 === 103 === In this study we try to construct a Magnetotellurics (MT) system for geophysical explorations. MT method is one of non-destructive geophysical techniques used to image the electrical resistivity in the subsurface. It is a passive exploration method that employs a broad spectrum of natural electromagnetic source and is better suited to probing depths of several hundred kilometers. Unfortunately most matured commercial systems did not perform well in noisy environments like Taiwan due to limited adjustment that can be made by the users. We will work on set up a modulized MT instrument by ourselves. We compare our system with the instruments made by commercial companies and correct our instrument to improve the sensitivity. After tests, based on different experiment designs, the results show that the difference on magnetic field data are more significant when flux-gate and coil are observed separately than other experiments. Our system has better performance than original single data. Besides, we will develop a signal processing program. Though the results with our system still have some inconsistency, we will combine different components to fit our need after updating the program in the future.
