Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 社會與區域發展學系碩士班 === 103 === Abstract This study is to explore the status quo of work values and working pressure of surrogate teachers and substitute teachers at elementary schools, First it learns the teachers’ work value and then their work pressure; finally, improvement strategies and mechanism of the educational authorities to reduce their work pressure will be put forward. With an in-depth semi-structured interview, four substitute teachers and four surrogate teachers at elementary schools are interviewed. After that, the contents of the interview were put down for analysis, with the conclusions drawn as follows: Ⅰ. The substitute teachers’ work values are ordered as sense of achievement, altruism, self-development and remuneration. While that of surrogate teachers are ordered as remuneration, sense of achievement and self-development. Ⅱ. The pressures of substitute teachers at elementary schools involve factors like time spent in transportation, parents and students, environment, interpersonal relationship, course contents, school administration. While that of surrogate teachers include examinations for teachers, students and parents, school administration and teaching experience. Ⅲ. The improvement strategies for relieving the substitute teachers cover reading relevant books, changing of attitude, consulting with other teachers, and peer pressure from other students. Whereas that for relieving surrogate teachers include having someone to encourage him/he, passing the teacher’s examination, talking about working pressures, consulting with experiences people, taking exercises or learn new skills. As for the mechanism of teaching authorities: schools should take the approach of continuing employment; the time for the examination of the teachers should be set on different dates by the education unit of various levels in order to relieve the working pressure of the surrogate teachers at elementary schools. Based on the conclusions mentioned above, proposals are made to the school faculty, educational administration authorities and future researchers.
