Since earth science is an important course of twelve-year basic education in Taiwan, this study adopted the Cretaceous dinosaurs as theme and strata and fossils as contents to develop an innovative teaching tool combined with augmented realityies and puzzles. This study adopted quasi-experimental tests on 103 fifth-grade students to evaluate the effect. The result shows:
1.The jigsaw puzzle game-based learning and which combines with augmented reality may enhance the students’ learning achievement;
2.The augmented reality combined with puzzles of digital game-based learning has a positive motivation effect;
3.The augmented reality combined with puzzles of digital game-based learning helps to motivate the students’ creation.
The measures of the experiments show that the teaching tools developed by the study do help enhance the students' learning motivation and learning achievement. It is suggested to be introduced to apply as teaching tools and helps to improve the students' learning willingness and understanding.
