Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 語文與創作學系語文教學碩士班 === 103 === The masterpiece Shih-Chi by Sima Qian is the pioneer in Chinese historical records written in biographic format and has made a great contribution to historical-literature study. Knowing Sima Qian and his process of accomplishing Shih-Chi can help readers to further understand the unique value of such masterpiece. The children versions of Sima Qian’s biographies pass on his minds set and spirit; establishing a good example of moral values in order to enlighten young readers. This study took children’s versions of Sima Qian’s biographies published and circulated in Taiwan as the research subjects. This paper is arranged into five chapters. In chapter one, the introduction part consists of research motivation and purpose, and determines of the research scope and methods. The relevant comments including bibliographies and theses were gathered in literature review. Chapter two cites the comprehensive description of Sima Qian’s life from the records of official history. Chapter three includes the analysis on full-length novel of children’s versions of Sima Qian’s biographies, and discussions of writing issues of each text such as proper citation of historical data with firsthand information as writing basis to avoid propagation of erroneous material. Chapter four comments on short-length novels of Sima Qian’s biographies, each text is selected from celebrity stories or Shih-Chi stories. These short stories focus on Sima Qian’s determination, learning and perseverant spirit in completing Shih-Chi to reflect his grand ideal in writing this great work. Chapter five concludes the overall children’s versions of Sima Qian’s biographies circulated in Taiwan to serve as reference for future potential biographers.
