Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 103 === The purpose of this action research was to use cooperative learning strategy on English reading comprehension and motivation among ninth graders in the researcher’s school. The subjects in this study were twenty-one ninth graders in the researcher’s class. The researcher designed the reading lessons by STAD and CIRC. The total instruction lasted for eight weeks, two periods per unit, and forty-five per period. The data were collected through class observation, English reading comprehension tests, and interviews. The result of the study are as follow: 1.The cooperative strategy enhances students’ English vocabulary ability and reading comprehension. 2.The cooperative strategy increases students’ learning self-confidence, interest and class involvement. 3. Peer-Monitoring improves student groups’ Effectiveness. 4. To speak more facilitates students’ class involvement.5. Alternative scoring improves students’ learning motivation.
