Summary:碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育學系(所) === 104 === This study aims to investigate in the application of cooperative learning in English teaching in the third grade of elementary school. The research participants are twelve students taught by researcher in regular class at one elementary schoolin TaoyuanCounty. Their English proficiency is different from middle academic achievement to low academic achievement. The research participants have received this study for a period of sixteen weeks. The research adopts action research method supplemented descriptive statistics studies to investigate the effect of cooperative learning strategy of STAD(Student Teams-Achievement Divisions) in English teaching. The researcher divides students into heterogeneous groups for cooperative learning and group discussion. The researcher proceeds teaching related reflection during practical teaching accompanied by observation, audio, video, descriptive statistics, data analysis , student feedback and interviews. The research adjusts teaching strategies to sophisticated English teaching and improves students' English learning attitude and learning effect, and enhance students' peer interactive skills by action reflection, dialogue, and then action spiral cycle, successive amendments. After implementation of actions and analysis, the primary findings in this study are as follows: 1. Cooperative learning strategies can improve students' English learning effect. 2. Students perform more positive attitude towards English learning, and the team leader's personality can drive team members to learn. 3. Cooperative learning enhance students’ social skills and students’ ability to interact with their peers. 4. English teacher designs cooperative learning group working sheets to help group activities carried out smoothly.
