碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 社會科學教育學系 === 103 === This study focuses on whether the Korean wave have an impact on the North Korean defectors. Due to North Korea`s political distinctiveness, this study cannot be done within its border. Therefore, North Korean defectors become the main object of this research expecting to indirectly understand how the status of the spread of Korean wave within North Korea is. Based on the analysis of grounded theory of qualitative research, the main findings of this study are as follows: A. Korean wave in North Korea territory is also prevalent. However, because of political opposition between two countries, the Korean wave is being distributed only in smuggling way, therefore, the meaning of the Korean wave in North Korea differs from other countries. B. North Korean residents accept and share South Korean media contents avoiding the monitoring of North Korean authorities, and despite of smuggling way gradually spread to the whole country through the border of North Korea and China. Coming of South Korean media contents into North Korea becomes faster. Korean wave of smuggling business activities covers the political intentions. Although the North Korean authorities have control, but it is still being continued to spread in the way of commercial activities. When the North Korean residents enjoy South Korean merchandises, they do not realize political motives behind it. Korean wave significantly contributes to liberalization of the North Korean society under the long-term impact. C. Making North Korean residents indirectly experience public lifestyles of South Korea certainly influences the social and cultural unification of North and South Korea.
