Erhu concerto “Totem”, compose by BinYang Li, is a rare erhu musical works from the past. From its unique solo style, the overall sound presented by the orchestra and ethnic musical style, raise the interest for the author to do the research of this piece. Throughout the collection and list systematically of literature review, the author found that, BinYang Li, concern of connecting his work with his own ethnic cultural.   The music structure, motivation, minimalist music creation technique and the orchestrated way to do analysis and research and finally, through the integration of collected data, from the base of analysis of the collected data, with the author’s sensible interpretation and rational performance technique, given the music new life and through this, bridging both composer and audience.   From the process of this research and analysis, the author concludes erhu concerto “Totem”, different with the other erhu concertos due to it comes with ethnic musical style, period style and performer’s personal style. The author concludes two major performance interpretations of this concerto are a good grounding of both left and right hand training, experience and arrangement of musical sense of time.     Hoping that this analysis and interpretation will act as a reference for the other performers to interpret and analysis of erhu concerto “Totem”. Through the study and analysis of BinYang Li’s composing technique and concept, hoping it will encourage more and more music works from Chinese Orchestra and to push forward of the development of Chinese Orchestra.
