Description
Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 103 === The low cost and high quality of Taiwan’s healthcare attracts many patients from abroad. However, despite winning critical acclaim from international media and being regarded as a competitive choice among the best hospitals in Asia, medical tourism in Taiwan is still lacking behind the rest of Asia’s. Thus, promoting international healthcare should be a strong focus for medical development in Taiwan. This study aims to further understand the current status of Taiwan’s medical tourism by analyzing data from review studies, case controlled studies, and interviews. Recommendations based on these results will help to further promote the benefits of medical tourism in Taiwan. According to our results from these studies and interviews, the most critical factor affecting Taiwan’s medical tourism development is the lack of integration and communication. Taiwan offers high quality healthcare at a low cost, but the poor cooperation between government agencies and service providers result in a lack of unity and negotiating power. Government assistance will provide a significant boost to medical tourism in Taiwan.
