Input variables used in the first stage are core business costs and sideline business costs. Core business revenue and sideline revenue are the output variables and subsequently used as the input variables for the second stage. All four variables are calculated from the subsidiaries. Output variables for the second stage are earning per share and market value which were calculated from conglomerates for this study. The empirical outcomes show that: 1.Under the non-cooperate model, there is no relation between the proportion of sideline revenue in total revenue (PSR) and market efficiency. However, PSR may have a relation with production efficiency. 2.Under the centralized model, no information could be established on the relation between PSR and production or market efficiency. 3.Conglomerates which have overall superior performance have high PSR regardless of the model. Similarly, groups having lower overall performance have lower PSR. It can be inferred that PSR may have a relation to conglomerates’ efficiency performance.
