Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 歷史學系 === 103 === After the Manchus take over Beijing in 1644, Shunzhi Emperor have taken an strategy called “To Rule Han by Han” to stabilize his ruling, and thus made “Respecting Confucius and Stressing the Way” as one of fundamental policy of Qing Dynasty. After the succession of Kangxi Emperor, he took on this strategy by hosting daily lecture and to study Confucius. During this process, the Kangxi Emperor realized Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu does provide special effect on lecturing his subjects. He not only to read it but also write down his own comment(Yupi, 御批). His comments was being published nation-wide along with Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu in the form of notes as Yupi Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu Quanshu in 40th year of Kangxi Reign for his comments can be read by all intellectuals. The Qianlong Emperor decided to follow steps of his grandfather and went even more to edit one gangmu style general Chinese history book to include his own comments and named it as Yupi Lidai Tongjian Jilan to publish it nation-wide for all intellectual to read it. And it became obviously that Emperors of Qing Dynasty are not limited to study books of Confucius but want to unify public thoughts with their own “comments”. This Thesis does focus on comments of Yupi Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu Quanshu to discuss what’s the ideal personality that Kangxi Emperor want his subjects to follow and to see his own image. And I’ll compare comments of Kangxi Emperor and comments of Qianlong Emperor on Yupi Lidai Tongjian Jilan to tell their difference and similarity on the demands toward their own subjects and their own images.
