Description
Summary:碩士 === 大仁科技大學 === 休閒事業管理研究所 === 103 === Recently disasters continue to be reported from all over the world. Furthermore, urbanization, long duty periods, and the shift system, all increase pressure and stress for the fire fighter. Too much work stress is bad for the health and will affect the job performance. Many studies have found out that participation in leisure activities can effectively reduce work related stress. So it is important for fire Bureau to choose appropriate leisure activities to offer to fire fighters to reduce their levels of work related stress. In this context, this study attempts a deeper understanding of leisure activities and the experience of work related stress among fire fighters in Kaohsiung City. Questionnaires were carefully devised and administered, and the results were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 statistical software packages. The researcher completed descriptive statistics, item analysis, t-test, one way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The findings showed significant differences in leisure activities relating to socio-demographic variables. Significant negative correlation was found between participation in leisure activities and experience of work related stress. Our findings have suggested the following four recommendations: 1. The fire-fighters of Kaohsiung City in the age group 31-50 years need to recognize and acknowledge their own symptoms of work related stress, and to find the appropriate and most effective activity to help the individual or group to release the work stress. 2. Different levels within Fire Bureau may consider offering different types of leisure activities appropriate to that level. 3. When fire-fighters of the Kaohsiung city face stressful conditions at work, they need to be aware of this, and to have access to resources to enable them to participate in the appropriate and effective leisure activities to help them relieve work related stress. 4. In order to help relieve and prevent work related stress among fire-fighters, different levels within Fire Bureau should offer and organize frequent outdoor sports activities.
