Reading strategies include prediction, raising questions, summarizing, and clarifying. The study adopted an action research method. 17 second grade from an elementary school in Taiching City were recruited as participants.Reading- strategies were delivered to the participants 2 sessions a week for 8 weeks, with a total of 16 sessions.Pre- and post-tests of Children’s Reading Attitude Inventory were administered.Qualitative data including notes of classroom log, teacher reflection,parent feedback, and peer teachers’ observation are also collected to manifest the results. According to the results, conclusions are drawn as follows:(1)Using Chinese language textbook for teaching reading strategies may reduce teaching load for teachers and increase practice time for students. (2) After teaching reading strategies, there is an increase in these second grade students’ self-regulated learning behaviors. (3) These second grade students’ reading attitude is also improved. (4)Through the action research, the teacher-researcher experiences professional growth resulted ftom on going teaching and reflection. In accordance with the results, the researcher proposes some suggestions for future study.
