Traditional vehicles mostly have a single power system, which is engine. The engine power transmission adopts a clutch device between the engine and gear change mechanism to facilitate the gear change. It is generally called vehicle clutch. However, besides engine power, motor power is added to hybrid cars in recent years. The separation and combination for the two types of power has become a critical subject to automotive applications. Automotive power clutch applications are increasingly diversified. Besides the power clutch between engine and motor, there is also power clutch between engine and power generator. This study aims at automotive power clutch applications, conducts several tests and analysis. Acceptance criteria are also established to assure the device meets vehicle requirements and be the basis for power system development. The study mainly covers wet clutch. It includes viscous property test and analysis, control test and analysis and gain test and analysis. We also propose testing procedures and methods, and the effects of a series of parameters, including oil temperature, valve control, transmission torque and speed to help define clutch operation parameters for vehicle and power system adjustment.
