Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 103 === The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of employing comprehension monitoring strategy on junior high school students’ reading attitude and reading comprehension. Through Tablet PCs, students could adjust their reading speed and monitor their comprehension during reading in class. The objectives of this study were: (1) To investigate junior high school students’ reading attitude after reading instruction with comprehension monitoring strategy; (2) To analyze differences in their reading comprehension before and after being given a reading instruction with comprehension monitoring strategy; (3) To explore their acceptance and opinions about employing comprehension monitoring in reading. This is a quasi-experimental study. Two ninth-grade classes, with thirty students each, of a junior high school in New Taipei City participated in this study. One class was assigned as the experimental group and the other was the control group. The experimental group received reading instruction with comprehension monitoring strategy, while the control group received the traditional didactic instruction of reading. For both groups, the instructions consisted of 18 sessions spanning 6 weeks. The findings were as follows: (1) Students in the experimental group who were given the reading instruction with comprehension monitoring showed better reading comprehension than those in the control group. (2) Students in the experimental group showed better reading attitude than those in the control group. (3) Students agreed that the comprehension monitoring strategy is helpful for reading and thought reading to be more interesting.
