Using the motorcycle, the transmission of the motorcycle is kept and the gasoline engine is replaced by a 3kW electric motor. With this, a new electric motorcycle with four speed transmissions that is good for environmental protection and energy conservation is established. This thesis focuses on the design of motor mounting and power transmission systems. The works include the design of the motor controlling system and the setting of the circuitry. The motorcycle adopts a wet multi-plate and centrifugal automatic clutch. Considering a specific clutch and character of gears, it is necessary to adjust the appropriate control parameters. This study accomplishes a new electric motorcycle. The power transmission system is successfully connected with the electric motor and the gearbox. Experimental and actual vehicle testing reveal that the output power of the motorcycle can reach 4.568kW and the maximum speed will be 70.58 km/hr.
