Description
Summary:碩士 === 台南應用科技大學 === 美術系碩士班 === 103 === This abstract chronicles the writer''s artworks and insights from her undergraduate years to the completion of her graduate degree. As a holistic documentation spanning the past three years, the writer seeks to articulate the issues and emotional pressure she had to encounter and overcome during this time frame. Relating herself to the protagonist in the book L''élégance du Hérisson, the writer''s heart yearns for compassion and approval, but nonetheless must retreat into solidarity in order to isolate her own sentimentality. Consequently the locus of the writer''s creativity precisely comes from within these two opposite poles where her secluded ego dwells within an isolated territory. The titular concept of a "miring phenomenon" is used to explain this contrasting condition. The word "mire" itself is usually synonymous with a wet and boggy terrain, where things are pliable and mutable. Alternatively, it can also express a state of inflexible stubbornness or entrapment, be it literal of figurative. Befitting such a polar relationship, clay is chosen as a dynamic medium to express the writer''s memories and emotionally pressures. The thesis body is split up into several sections. The introduction explains the writer''s methodological motivations, learning outcomes and creative inspirations. In the subsequent chapters. the writer discusses how her lived experiences and environments along with important artists and theoretical literatures have influenced her art practice and philosophy. Furthermore, details such as the symbolic significance of her artworks along with their psychological connections will be explained fully. Finally, the conclusion is a retrospective interrogation and re-evaluation of the writer''s past artworks regardless of their success factor. Ultimately, this thesis will be a complete documentation of the writer''s artistic exploration and a witness to her growth as an artist.
