碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 音樂學系音樂教學碩士學位班 === 103 === Gustav Mahler, born in the latter half of the nineteen century, was a late-Romantic composer and conductor in Austria. This thesis focuses on the research of his four songs from the song cycle Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen including“Wenn mein Schatz Hochzeit macht＂, “Ging heut’ Morgen #westeur061#ber’s Feld＂, “Ich hab' ein gl#westeur061#hend Messer＂, and “Die zwei blauen Augen von meinem Schatz＂. The love affair with soprano Johanna Richter inspired Gustav Mahler to write this song cycles as love confessions in 1883-1885. He kept revising this work in his old age until Josef Weinberger Publishing Company had finally put out his compositions which include piano and orchestral versions on September 27, 1897. This thesis is to dissects Gustav Mahler’s lifetime, cultural background and conceivability of creation, to explores the background setting, poem structure, music analysis and interpretation of all the four songs from Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen .
